Upon the confirmation of Student Regent (SR) Isaac Punzalan, a new regent appointed by the Malacanang now sits at the UP Board of Regents (BOR).
Dr. Ma. Arlissa Aguiluz, an alumna of the UP College of Dentistry (UPCD) in UP Manila and member of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), has now replaced Frederick Mikhail “Spocky” Farolan due to the expiration of his term last year.
The BOR withdrew the recommendation of Farolan’s reappointment in light of the former regent’s controversy with the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) men’s basketball team, claiming that he “appeared to advocate the use of violence” against the team’s members.
Farolan was also known for his remarks towards the Batch 2018 takers of the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT), threatening to insult those who did not pass the said test. [P]
