In the span of two weeks, the College of Economics and Management (CEM) loses two councilors: CEM Representative to the University Freshman Council (UFC) Sean Icely Allorde, and most recently CEM Student Council’s (CEMSC) Argelyn Raquiz.
As announced online by the UPLB University Freshman Council (UPLB UFC), Allorde, also the Vice Chairperson for Internals and overseer of the Student Rights and Welfare (STRAW) committee of the said council, violated Article 8, Section 3e of the UPLB University Student Council-College Student Council (USC-CSC) constitution. The section referred to an act that “undermines the integrity of the Student Council.”
It is also worth noting that last December, following internal deliberations within the CEMSC and College of Economics and Management Freshman Council (CEMFC), Allorde would be suspended from CEMFC from December 12, 2019 until the end of the second semester of A.Y. 2019-2020.
However, his suspension from UFC only took effect last March 2, and will continue to do so until further notice.
Raquiz, meanwhile, filed a letter of resignation to the CEMSC last March 3, 2020. It was stated in her letter that physical health reasons prevented her from fulfilling the majority of her duties.
On the matter of health, Raquiz mentioned that she is due for an operation this coming April. As there is no provision covering this type of situation, Raquiz’s resignation was effective immediately upon being deliberated by the council. She also vows to continue her support to the council’s endeavors. [P]
