As part of the month-long celebration, the College of Agriculture and Food Science Freshman Council will be conducting a digital art competition with the theme, E-Guhit Mo: Mga Bayani sa Sakahan at Palaisdaan from May 29 – June 9, 2021.
This year marks the 32nd Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Month, an annual recognition of the efforts and sacrifices of Filipino farmers and fisherfolks who are the soul of our nation’s progressive agriculture, providing us food security and sustainability.
The digital art competition will emphasize sihay or biology, “simbolo ng buhay,” to give importance to farmers and fisherfolk who provide support and effort to the lives of all Filipinos through their hard work. In line with this, CAFS FC aims to promote the unsung heroes of agriculture’s significance, specifically to the Filipino youth, by uplifting their talents through the use of digital art.
This event has the power to raise awareness throughout the country about the significance of agriculture, a neglected sector of our society that is being ignored and hampered by societal issues, particularly in the face of the pandemic.
CAFS Freshman Council encourages all high school and college students nationwide to join the digital art contest. The entries will be collected through email and will then be posted on CAFS FC’s Facebook page. The winners will be announced at the end of the contest.
The winners will be receiving cash prizes sponsored by the following companies and businesses:
