Words by Beyonce Nava and Federick Biendima
Last weekend, the massive coverage of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng brought strong gusts of wind and torrential rain to most of the country, particularly on the island of Luzon. The storm passed through the entire Bicol Region before moving on to Southern Luzon, the National Capital Region, and the western portion of Central Luzon, where it caused widespread flooding and damage in the provinces it went through.
The Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions currently face significant challenges as a result of the total impact of the calamity. Various groups in Southern Tagalog began campaigns including donation drives, relief activities, and rescue operations to offer urgent aid to the communities who are most severely impacted by the storm.
