On its 50th year, [P] proclaims new EIC, editorial board

Sibucao promises that the Perspective, under her term as EIC, will continue to serve the UPLB constituents and forward the calls of the masses in another Marcos regime.

Since 1973, UPLB Perspective has been an active student publication covering campus, regional and national issues.

Under Martial Law, the clamor for freedom of speech and intensifying press freedom push to establish student publication through the Council of Student Leaders (CSL). CSL is a body of student representatives from different organizations.

On its 50th year, UPLB Perspective, the official student publication of UP Los Baños, announced its latest editor-in-chief last January 5.

Student publication named Claire Denise Sibucao as its new editor-in-chief, after she was appointed by UPLB Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr.

Sibucao, a Batch ‘19 BS Forestry student, emerged as the victor in the editorial exam held last December 12, succeeding former EIC Sonya Mariella Castillo.

Gabriel Dolot, a Batch ‘19 BS Development Communication student from the Perspective’s features section, also took the editorial examination alongside Sibucao.

Assistant Professor Nicolo M. Masakayan of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) served as chair and led the Ad Hoc Editorial Examination Committee to select the Perspective’s EIC for A.Y. 2022-2023, in accordance with the Revised Rules and Regulations governing the student publication.

Moreover, Asst. Prof. Aileen F. Macalintal of the College of Development Communications (CDC), Professor Ronaldo B. Saludes of the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT), University Student Council (USC) Chairperson Gean Marie L. Celestial, and Glen Christian Tacasa from UPLB Perspective completed the Ad Hoc Editorial Examination Committee.

Meanwhile, Sibucao promises that the Perspective, under her term as EIC, will continue to serve the UPLB constituents and forward the calls of the masses in another Marcos regime.

“Ngayong taon ay isasagawa ang ika-50 na selebrasyon sa pagkakatatag ng UPLB Perspective kaalinsabay rin nito ang unang taon ng pagbabalik ng mga Marcos sa Malacañang, sa gitna nito, magpapatuloy pa rin ang militanteng pamamahayag at paglilingkod ng publikasyon sa higit na interes ng mamamayang Pilipino.”

[This year, the 50th celebration of the establishment of the UPLB Perspective will be commemorated at the same time as the first year of the return of the Marcoses to Malacañang, in the midst of this, the service and the militant journalism of the publication will continue for the greater interest of the Filipino people.]

Sibucao is joined by the new editorial board, with the full roster listed as follows:
