June 2, 2021 – Brgy. Macalamcam, Rosario, Batangas
Rolando “Lando” Obal from Brgy. Macalamcam, Rosario, Batangas is now incarcerated at the Rosario Municipal Police Station after illegally arrested by the PNP Rosario, last May 26 from the same location.
It was said that Lando was involved in an encounter with armed men from the PNP Rosario on May 26, where firearms and explosives were planted, and was arrested for having trumped-up charges of Frustrated Homicide and Illegal Possession of Firearms.
According to Karapatan Timog Katagalugan, PNP Rosario prohibits Lando from communicating with his family while he is being detained.
Progressive groups such as Anakbayan Laguna and Karapatan-TK strongly denounced the government’s ongoing red-tagging of peasant leaders and progressive individuals across the country, and call to release Orlando from detention.

A man named Gilbert Orr was reported missing after an alleged armed encounter took place in Brgy. Macalamcam, Rosario, Batangas last May 27, human rights alliance Karapatan Timog Katagalugan (TK) says in a June 1 update.
According to witnesses, Orr was seen wounded while on his way to a nearby barangay. There are suspicions that Orr was abducted by the military.
They added that five days since his disappearance, there is still no sight of Orr. [P]
